100 days of 100 burpees

how to do burpees
I have to confess, I do touch the floor a bit more on number 4!! Pic from google images

100 days

100 burpees every day

10 000 burpees in total

Sponsorship per day completed

BRING IT ON!!

That basically sums up my first fundraising effort for the Gumby Legacy.

I’d like to point out

  1.  I am not fit starting out due to minimal exercise since baby number 2 was born in April
  2.  I HATE burpees

So why am I proposing this crazy thing?

A project that the Gumby Legacy would like to support is Surfability UK. They aim to make surfing accessible and inclusive for people with physical disabilities. As a physiotherapist who works with kids with disabilities, I am extremely excited at what this community interest company is all about. I joined my colleagues and a bunch of our kids this week to try it out and it was amazing. The good feeling and positive vibes from everyone involved was awesome and the potential benefits from a therapy perspective are huge. See here why Gumby would approve of this too.

The NPT Children’s Centre where I work would like to be able to make surfing a more accessible and regular experience for local children with disabilities and their families but due to cost implications, a bit of subsidisation would be helpful. That’s where we could help.

Also, Ben (the guy who runs the project), says that they are getting so busy now that he needs to employ some staff to help out. He is also trying to raise funds to build a more appropriate changing area at Caswell Bay which is where most of the sessions are held. Current changing facilities are definitely NOT disabled friendly so this would be a ginormously useful thing. Maybe we could help with this too.

All depends on how generous all of you lovely people are.

How can you help?

  1. Pledge to sponsor me a set amount per day completed (I will do 100!!)
  2. Pick an activity you would find a challenge. Do it every day for 100 days and get your friends, family, colleagues, and random strangers to sponsor you

Go to our 100 Day of Challenge Facebook page, post on there what you’re committing to do (or what you’ll sponsor me please) and let’s get physical!

Today was day 4 and I have to post this now in order to commit because it’s so very, very hard!

I HATE burpees.

PS. The reason it’s a physical thing is because Jeremy and his friend Antony were planning on making this the Year of the Ox (why? I don’t know!) and they were aiming on getting ‘ripped’.

So, Antony Cox, Ryan van Lelyveld, Mathew McGlew – I am nominating all of you to do this challenge too. Jason Wells – my mom nominated you!

I have got a video of my first day effort which I will try to edit and get on here soon.

Who is in?
