18 months on & the plot was lost!

It’s been hard to know how to focus this website and ‘non- profit organisation’ in memory of Gumby. It’s only been 18 months today since he was so suddenly taken from us and in some ways it’s no time at all but in others it feels like so much longer.

While I cannot say that it’s getting easier or that it’s any less difficult to deal with what happened, for myself, I am managing to cope much better (non-stop eating cakes and chocolates is a form of coping isn’t it?!) The truth is, a few months ago I was shouting and crying all the time too.

18 months on and the plot was lost!

I took a few weeks off work and started seeing a counsellor which has definitely been helpful. I was surprised that it took so long for me to ‘lose the plot’ but apparently this is common and other people were not shocked at all.

Mom has been getting help too and we really hope that those of you wonderful people who loved him and miss him too are doing ok. Especially those who were with him when he died.

What I really want to say is that if you’re still struggling with what happened to Gumby or if you’re reading this and don’t have a clue who Gumby was but are missing and hurting over somebody that you loved who has died, it’s never too late to ask for help.

It can’t make it better and it won’t bring them back (something I really struggle with) but slowly, slowly, you can learn to function again even though things/life/you will never be the same as before.

On a kind of good note, we have been given a date for the trial to start again in October. Fingers crossed things go ahead and we get somewhere. We will keep you posted.

I know that this blog has taken lots of different turns since we started it and yet again we are tweaking it a bit. Our surfing project has been going awesomely well and we are so chuffed with this that we hope to carry on funding blocks for kids with additional needs – they just LOVE it! We have a couple of other ideas for projects that we’d like to support and get going in the next year so look out for these.

We’ve also decided that we want to get a bit more focused and personal with what we blog about and share with you. I explain this a bit more in our ‘zuped’ up about page New? Start here and I have a book that I’m just busting to write soon as I get the chance!

We will also be looking at ways that we can share a gallery with more personal things like photos, drawings and musings of Gumby’s with those of you who would appreciate it.

Fundraising has been so successful and we are so grateful for the support we have received so far. We have a few ideas in the pipeline for shirts and hoodies and a few other bits and pieces but again, we just need a bit more time to make these things happen!

As always, we thank you for your love and support xx

We’re excited to get going on this new stage of the website and Legacy and hope you will continue to enjoy what we have to offer and benefit from what we are trying to do.

Sign up to get what we discover and share straight to your inbox – no junk bombardment I promise!

Take care,

Bron & Marian x0x
