Yo! Hello to you 🙂
You may or may not have noticed that things have been a bit quiet here on the blog for a while.
Things have been a little, shall we say, emotional & testing over the last few months & a combination of things have left me missing Jeremy so incredibly much that I actually couldn’t manage to even look at the site for a while.
Those of you who know the story about my fab little bro & how he was sadly taken away from us might know that the trial in SA has been dragging on like a freaking slug covered in syrup for the last 2 years. We were hoping that things were going to get going again this week however it turns out that 2 of the mo-fo’s managed to escape. You are correct: what a screw – up!
They are hoping to catch the bastards & resume things next week however, if they don’t, there has been a new date set for September. Apparently it’s best to wait until they have all of them to go ahead with the trial because going ahead with the 3 they still have could jeopardise things with the other 2 when they catch them.
All I know at the moment is that the 2 escaped while being transported somewhere. Loads of questions surrounding that but the biggest one I can’t get over is that if 2 murderers escaped while they were being transported here in the UK, all hell would break loose until they were caught. It just wouldn’t happen. And yet in SA it happens every single bloody day. No one bats an eyelid, except for the people whose hearts get ripped up a little bit more.
Why?
I just don’t get it. (All thoughts, comments and suggestions are welcome btw!)
Anyway, I want to say thanks to the people who still check this blog out. I’m always amazed that there’s traffic here everyday & am regularly amused that the post that gets the most traction is about slugs & what to do if they get in your house. How very random but every day it gets looked at! Apparently this summer is going to be a massive one for slugs because we had such a mild winter so look out everyone & if you need to know what to do, check out this article!
In other news, Ben from Surfability is going to have a couple of sessions available over the May half-term so if you or your child (who has any additional needs at all) would like to have a go at surfing which is just hugely beneficial for developing strength, co-ordination, balance & confidence, then let me know. If you like it, there will be a block of weekly sessions running for the rest of the school year after half term.
The sessions will be in Caswell Bay & Ben had some really exciting news earlier when I spoke to him in that he’s got an order for a load of new boards, rash vests & hopefully heated vests coming in the next few weeks AND, he’s in talks with the University who may be able to help him out with building his very own little building at Caswell! So exciting as this will mean that there will be disabled facilities for changing & toileting which will make life so much easier for the kids & their families (& give Ben & his family back their home!)
We’re also busy planning our next Aberavon Surf Taster (Festival?) Day which will hopefully be towards the end of August. I will keep you informed but in the meantime, if you have suggestions or help to offer then please don’t be shy – I am the most unorganised person in the world so all help is gladly appreciated! Here’s a link to what we’ve done the last 2 years if you don’t know anything about it.
Cool. That’s it for now.
Take care & much love,
Bron x
PS: when you don’t know what to do, choose love. Send all the love you can to as many as things as you can & somehow it makes things feel better x
