Memories of…

Memories of…

When I was a young child (so many moons ago!) we moved to Surrey, Hawthorn Road, and every time I’ve seen Hawthorn trees since it transports me back to those days, remembering all the loved ones that are no longer here. So, to remembering my mum and dad, my cousin Michael, and our neighbours who […]

10,269km down..

A special thanks to those that are posting on the blog and/or the FB group!  We are moving to remember with you but I just don’t seem to be very good at posting..  Have set myself a goal to try and spend 10minutes each morning here, so we will have to wait and see! We’ve […]

Let’s talk about loss, and grief..

This is a long path we take, when we lose anyone we love. As all of you reading this will know, losing someone through violent crime is something else again. This was not inevitable. An act of chance or nature. This was something another human being went, with deliberate intent, prepared to do if […]

Tropic of Cancer!

Tropic of Cancer!

So at last I have a simple representation of the Tropic of Cancer and where it passes through! A big thanks to Mrs Wells – our friend from Durban days – for sorting this for me. It did prove beyond my capability..

Grief & grieving… What comes to mind when you think about ‘grief’? We’d love to know! As many of you know, Jeremy – Gumby – my son, was lost to violent crime in South Africa nearly 7 1/2 years ago. This, you probably think, is something to relate to grief, which would be true. However, […]

Pyramids..

The most pyramids in Africa are found in Sudan!  With more than 225, Sudan has a number of sites where pyramids were constructed as tombs for the royalty of Meroe and Nepata.  A useless but interesting pice of information, I felt..

Fitness watches (and 1,000miles)

Fitness watches (and 1,000miles)

I think that is what they are called! Sounds good. Does it mean that wearing one will make you fit? Or perhaps send out messages to others that you are attempting to be fit? Or convince you to try a bit harder to be fit and reach your target steps or distance in a day? […]

The Tropic of Cancer

The Tropic of Cancer

After much discussion, we have decided to complete our circumnavigation of the earth by travelling around the Tropic of Cancer – once we have completed this, we will have travelled more than the distance of the Equator – 40,075km, with the Tropic of Cancer being 36,770km plus the distance of 8,000km already travelled, totalling 44,770km!
