I don’t remember learning how to make a daisy chain when I was a kid. I think I was quite old but I love the idea of making them now. So much so, that today when I took my 3-year-old out for a walk, it was me getting all excited to make one but when it came down to it, she threaded one daisy and then decided she would rather roll her scooter down the hill!
During an unexpected rain shower, we huddled in the shelter of a tree and I tried to show her how to make a daisy chain. Here’s how it went……
Step by step:
- Find your daisies. Buttercups don’t work so well but you can add them in anyway
- Use your fingernail to slice a small hole through the stem of a daisy
- Thread a different daisy (and buttercup if you’re adding a splash of colour) through the hole. Then slice a hole in that daisy
- Keep threading to make the chain as long as you like
- Tie together with a gentle knot and Voila – a lovely, happy piece of jewellery
