Otherwise known as One Day At A Time. That’s my motto at the moment. And one of the main reasons I have made it through day 16 of my no flour and no sugar mission.
I heard this great story of an old guy who was at an AA meeting. He introduced himself as people do: ” I’m Jo and I’m an alcoholic. I haven’t had a drink in …… (however many) days. I might drink tomorrow. But I’m not having one today.”
At first hearing it, you might think that it’s quite a weird thing to say. What he was getting at is that today is the only day he has right now to worry about and have some control over. Who knows what tomorrow might bring. It doesn’t really matter because tomorrow will be ‘today’ tomorrow and then you can choose what you do with that day then!
I thought that was really quite a great way to look at it. So that’s what I’m doing. Today, I’m not eating sugar or flour. I’ve also committed to not eating it for 111 days so I don’t anticipate eating it until that time is up. Who knows what I’ll do on day 112 though!
I thought this quote was quite funny and also a good reminder that actually, all everybody can do is take things one day at a time. That’s the way time works!
Take care of you & thanks for reading,
